Description:

         Soil nutrient is the most important part of successful agriculture. It plays a vital role for healthy plant growth. The major nutrients are Nitrogen(N), Phosphorus(P) and Potassium(K). Our Device is used to detect the soil nutrient contents using NPK Soil Sensor and Arduino.

         Our Device can help us to learn about the nutritional deficiency to improve plant production. As well as it gives the suggestion of which crops can be yielded in that particular soil based on the values of NPK percentage.

         In addition our device also suggest the quantity of fertilizers to be used to increase the soil fertility. This is necessary because fertile soils are necessary to grow healthy crops.

Working:

  • To check the nutrients present in the soil a small amount of soil is taken as sample
  • Then we’re inserting the pins present in the NPK sensor into the soil 
  • And then it displays the amount of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium present in the soil
  • After Determining the amount of NPK present in the soil, the user should enter the amount of NPK in the app 
  • And then the app will display the variety of crops based on the NPK values entered
  • Then the user can yield a particular crop in that soil or area.

Advantages:

  1. In traditional method it can be tested by using lab experts but our product is very handy and show the content immediately and accurately
  2. This saves time and cost of the farmer (User)

Further Improvement:

  • In Future we’ll also forecast the weather and gives the suggestion to plant the crops according to the climatic conditions
  • Due to that major amount of crops drowning on water as well as crops rotting can be reduced

Conclusion:

          Our device display the amount of nutrients (i.e) [Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium] present in the soil accurately and quickly. It also gives the variety of crops that suits for the given sample soil at right climatic conditions which improves the crop yield. In simple words to say “Our device will be the best companion for the farmer”.
